In order to verify the accuracy of your credit card activity in our system, Puzzle continuously compares the credit card balance provided by the credit card provider’s API to the balance calculated from all historical credit card transactions in Puzzle. Typically, the balances will be equal. However, in some instances Puzzle is unable to verify these balances, the three most common reasons are:

  1. Either your credit card or the bank account you are paying it out of is not connected to Puzzle
  2. The payment transaction provided by the credit card provider is not matched to the bank payment in Puzzle, either because the transaction description is opaque or because of an overly expansive rule.
  3. The credit card provider has not reported a transaction for a credit card payment via its API.

In such circumstances, the balances that are reflected in your Puzzle financial statements (Cash Activity, P&L, Balance Sheet) may not match your actual credit card account balance.

Below are a few troubleshooting steps anyone can perform to get your Dashboard back on track and allow the system to achieve auto reconciliation.

Troubleshooting Step 1: Review your connections

Puzzle can only track your credit cards effectively if both the credit card and the bank you are paying it from are connected to Puzzle. Review the connections on the integrations page to ensure all of your credit cards and all of your bank accounts are connected.
